Contrary to the erroneous belief that sugar is life, the sweet white substances are not your health’s best friends. We consume sugars in different ways daily without knowing that we are doing more harm to our health than good – for some reason. In this piece, we’ll be discussing three important reasons to quit sugar intake as soon as possible. Enjoy reading :
Sugar intake can result in a deadly disease, such as diabetes. Sugary substances cause diabetes because it forces the human body to become more insulin-resistant. Hence, with a consistent intake of sugar over a long period, the situation can become chronic.
In this case, the body will start failing to process consumed foods. And considering that blood sugar is one of the significant end-products of food materials before additional processing, high resistance to insulin may result in death – this is when insulin shots become necessary to continue living.
2. An addictive substance
Sugar is an extremely addictive substance. This happens because the human brain tends to desire palatable elements, and since sugar is profoundly sweet, it is easy for humans to keep longing for it.
Additionally, given that most humans begin life with a mother’s breast milk that contains lactose, naturally, we often consider any sweet food as a safe meal. Consequently, we find it challenging to stay away from taking sugar. In other words, sugar is not only deadly but addictive.
Over the years, studies have shown that sugar is one of the most important causes of obesity. To begin with, a high intake of sugar makes the body more resistant to insulin. Consequently, the pancreas has to perform at a higher rate to generate more insulin after every meal while keeping a significant portion of the newly consumed calories in fat cells.
Furthermore, the production of extra insulin inhibits leptin, a hormone which informs the brain that you have consumed enough meal. Once this hormone is blocked, you will likely consume more food since the body system will believe that you are hungry – this is even truer because a significant amount of food will be converted to fat.
More so, it helps develop harmful visceral fat, which makes the human body fat on the outside but thin internally. This condition is dangerous to human health because fats will cover the organs, which can limit their performance.
Now, before you chop down that chocolate bar or add sugars to sweeten your meals, endeavour to ask yourself, does it really worth it? By staying away from sweet beverages, processed foods, and the likes, you will be doing your health more a favour. Rather than sugar, we recommend taking fresh fruits. Stay healthy!
